| [11/19/09] | Interview with Dr. Ahmad Farooq: Senior Media Official, Al-Qaida in Pakistan The NEFA Foundation has obtained a transcript of an interview, produced by the As-Sahab Media Foundation, with Dr. Ahmad Farooq, Senior Media Official, Al-Qaida in Pakistan. During the interview, Dr. Farooq was asked "how Pakistani individuals" had become a part of Al-Qaida, which "is commonly known as an Arab organization.” He explained, “The claim can be true to the extent that a great majority of the Mujahideen – many of whom have been martyred to this day - who laid its foundation and joined it at the start, was that of the Arab brothers; and even today, a large part of Al-Qaeda comprises of the Arab Mujahideen. But this neither is an introduction to Al-Qaeda, nor any condition to become part of it... We see that Al-Qaida is active on diverse fronts including Algeria, Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan. It embraces Muslims of different nationalities; not only the locals of the areas it holds presence in, but also those belonging to America, different European states, Australasia, the Philippines, Indonesia and numerous other Muslim countries. People from all backgrounds come and join it. Pakistanis are part of it too and this is nothing improbable.” Dr. Farooq also waved off the frequent criticism that "the Muslims provoked the Kuffar into fighting at a stage when they were not fully prepared to resist them" and that the 9/11 attacks were "premature" because they provoked an American military invasion "which is said to have caused the fall of the Islamic Emirate." He insisted, "9/11 did not worsen the situation; rather, the state of affairs was altered for once, and the Kuffâr were forced to pay back for the horrors they had been inflicting upon the Muslims... The other thing is that there was no other way to fell a monster like America except that it approached Muslim land itself. Stationed far afield, it was controlling us as though with a remote-control: through our marionette rulers. It is by the Grace of Allah that it has come within our reach... Allah blessed the blood of those nineteen martyrs with great inspiration... And the sequence did not discontinue here…it marked the beginning of a chain reaction. Then came 7/7, the Madrid blasts and the succession carried on. By the Grace of Allah, it is still in progression and shall continue in future, Allah willing." |

This meeting resulted into his entry into the field of Jihad. The name of this young man was Abu Waleed Zaki-ur-Rahman. Soon he was entrusted with the responsibility of Jihad. Mujahideen engaged in Jihad under his leadership at different Jihadic centers, for instance Markaz Makkah, Markaz Madina. There he had full co-operation of Arab Mujahideen who taught him the intricacies of Jihad and Qital [combat]. From August,1987 to January 1990, he continued his Jihadic activities at the battlefront of Kabul. He also stayed in touch with Noori and Arab Mujahideen fighting in Noorastan... Young Abu Waleed and some other Pakistani Ulema (Hafiz Seed etc) laid the foundation of Ma’skar-e-Taiba in Kunhar, at Tango on February 22, 1990. They became like a frenzied bird, and that is why every Muslim in East Turkestan must become involved in specifically undertaking military training." Seyfullah boasted of the quality of the courses being taught to recruits at TIP training camps in Pakistan: "Thanks to Allah, we trained them on various weapons which are accessible to us, and which the mujahideen are presently using around the world. During the video, a group of German nationals fighting with the IMU in Afghanistan offered messages and commentary to those living back home in Europe. According to "Abu Adam the German", "more than 20 organizations are fighting here side-by-side with the same goal. All of their members and commanders have given their oaths of allegiance to a man who found its way into the hearts of each mujahid. We speak of the mujahid Amir al-Mumineen Mullah Mohammad Omar. As far as the jihad in Afghanistan is concerned, there are currently about 30 mujahideen operations per day. About 75% of the country is already under our control. My dear brothers and sisters, I do not say to you merely to come to the the land of jihad. Rather, I say to you, you should be racing one another to come to the land of jihad." Another German national, "Abu Abdullah"-shown sitting amongst a group of young children brandishing automatic weapons-explained, "as you can clearly see, praise be to Allah, this has become a very family-friendly place. So, bring your wives and children. Praise be to Allah, there are living quarters here far away from the front. There are hospitals, pharmacies, doctors, and schools-schools in which our children not only learn about Islam, but also all walks of life and obedience. That is why we advise you all to join together, revive, and live the cause of jihad with your entire family." These sentiments were also echoed in the video by IMU commander Muhammad Tahir Farooq himself, who openly welcomed European recruits, "we invite our brothers and sisters. We invite you to our frontline of jihad. We invite you to martyrdom." |
